It’s that time of the year again! The Annexe Gallery celebrates our 11th edition of Art For Grabs, coinciding with the Xmas season and Human Rights Day. Featuring an arts and crafts bazaar with 40 stalls selling wonderful goodies for under RM100 each, and a programme of fringe events that include launches, talks, and even a drag workshop!

12pm – ANNEXE HEROES 2010 Freedom Of Expression Awards
For the third consecutive year, we present the Annexe Heroes Awards, in recognition of Malaysians who have done outstanding work in championing freedom of expression. Join us as we honour Azmi Sharom, Edmund Bon, Fahmi Reza, Farish Noor & Shelah!

2pm - A DAY OF PET LOVE - "NO! A Lesson in Love" Book Launch by Sam Hepburn
Scottish-Malaysian illustrator Sam Hepburn launches her first picture book “NO! A Lesson in Love” about her relationship with her dog, a mini schnauzer called Jang Gun. Plus performances and a talk by PAWS on good pet ownership. You can also meet Jang Gun!

4pm – MIME IN ACTION Mime Performance by Tronoh Theatre Shop
Mimers from the Perak Tronoh Theatre Shop present a compilation of short mime performances. Perfect for younger audiences! There will also be a preview performance of the full length play “Nasi Lemak Seposen” that will be staged in April next year.


6pm – QUEER AS FILMS: It Gets Better in Malaysia
Seksualiti Merdeka launches short videos featuring Malaysians telling young LGBTs around the country not to despair: yes, it gets better.

12pm – Farish Noor presents “FROM TOTEM TO BLING BLING: Megaprojects and Other Follies in Southeast Asia
Farish continues his OtherMalaysia Lecture series with a look at the evolution of both sacred and political architecture across Southeast Asia, from the age of Angkor to the present, and try to understand the logic of megaprojects across the region.

2pm – “UNIMAGINED: Muhammad, Jesus & James Bond” Performance Narrative by Imran Ahmad
Internationally acclaimed author of “Unimagined” Imran Ahmad gives a performance narrative entitled “The Unimagined Path to Publication”, following your dream while keeping your day job, living as a Muslim in England and America, and the struggle to get his memoir published in a post-9/11 world.

4pm – “PERAK: A STATE OF CRISIS” Book Launch by Loyar Burok
The new book “Perak: A State of Crisis”, edited by Audrey Quay, offers a compelling blow-by-blow analysis of the controversial takeover of the Perak state government, and what it really means for Malaysians. To be launched by former Perak MB Nizar Jamaluddin.

6pm – DRAGTASTIC Workshop with SHELAH!
KL’s drag queen extraordinaire Shelah! presents DRAGTASTIC, her first ever drag performance workshop. The workshop aims to bring out your inner diva and boost your self confidence so you too can live your life fabulously like a bona fide drag queen. poster tersebut dibuat oleh pihak penganjur. tiada niat yang offensive dari pihak kami. kami hanya melakukan persembahan dalam salah satu acaranya dan sudah pasti persembahan kami pun tiada unsur offensive sama sekali. anda dijemput hadir menonton ya!
